Parents are the first teachers of the faith. We will be doing two things to help you with that process.
First: There will be a Parent meeting on August 13th during your childs class time to explain the years expectations and answer any questions.
Second: To help you reinforce what your children will be learning, the first class of each month, you priests and deacons will be teaching a mandatory parent class at the same time as your child’s class. The classes will be held in the daily mass chapel.
Please see the different course descriptions to determine the class that best suits your child.
If you have any questions, please contact Bernadette Hendrickson at 970-242-6121 Ext 204 or email [email protected]

The first year is for children is in first grade and is a FIRST YEAR FAITH FORMAITON class. The second year is SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION class and is for children in second grade. The child will receive 1st reconciliation and 1st communion.
This is a two-year course for students who are older, have started taking faith formaiton a little late, have missed sacraments, or who are new to the Catholic faith.
The FIRST YEAR RCIC CLASS is for students who are 8 years (2nd graders who never took the 1st year faith formation class or who are not baptized) to 11 years. It is a more advanced faith formation course. If the children are not baptized this is the sacrament they will be seeking in the first year class. Parents, please note you will need to contact the IHM Pastoral Assistant ASAP to sign up for baptism classes. You cannot move on to the second year of classes without the baptism.
The second year of classes the children will receive 1st confession and 1st communion. These students have already enrolled in class the previous year. See Bernadette Hendrickson to confirm that your child will be continuing their faith journey. If you need to update information, please let her know.
Continuous FAITH FORMATION is how our children stay strong when the world tells them they are not enough. God has called us all his beloved and those words need to echo in their heads when the world does not. We look forward to seeing your children in class.
This is a two-year course to prepare children 6th grade to 12th grade to be fully confirmed in the Catholic Faith. You must be baptized and have received first communion to enroll in this course.
FIRST YEAR CONFIRMATION CLASS you need to be 6th grade or older, and have been baptized and received 1st communion. This class is designed to help the child decern if they are called to become catholic. They will go through the faith they have been learning the past 6 years, receive additional formation, and be encouraged to ask questions about what they believe. It is a time for them to grow their roots and become strong in who they are as children of God.
SECOND YEAR CONFIRMATION CLASSES you need to have taken 1st year confirmation class. As this class progresses the children will be tackling more difficult questions regarding their faith and how they live it in their lives now and as they become adults. They are encouraged to ask questions of their teachers, their parents, their sponsors, their priests, and their deacons.
